Crowned the winner of E! Network's reality TV series The Entertainer, singer James Delisco revisits 40 years of Michael Jackson’s amazing career covering such hits as ABC, I'll Be There, Beat It, Thriller, Got To Be There, Rock With You, The Way You Make Me Feel and many more, all with a sizzling rock-pop band and The Florida Orchestra under the baton of Brent Havens.
Rock Concert Series:
Following a variety of symphonic rock concerts in recent season showcasing the music of Pink Floyd, The Beatles, Led Zeppelin, Queen and others, The Florida Orchestra has launched a three-concert symphonic rock series this season. The first of these tribute concerts opened this past October with the music of Simon and Garfunkel. It now continues with concerts featuring the music of Michael Jackson (Jan 18) and The Doors (May 10). The concerts are at the Progress Energy Center for the Arts – Mahaffey Theater in St. Petersburg.
James Delisco, vocalist
Crowned the winner of E! Network's reality TV series The Entertainer by Las Vegas’ famed Wayne Newton, James Delisco has proved worthy of that title with his recently completed one-year contract at the Las Vegas Hilton, where his show opened to rave reviews. In addition to overseas engagements in such varied locations as Berlin, Macau and Singapore, his professional credits also include performing in such Broadway shows as Smokey Joe’s Café, Aida and Ragtime, as well as in the cast of the national tour of Jesus Christ Superstar. He has performed “The Music of Michael Jackson” with a variety of orchestras, including the Baltimore Symphony, Louisiana Philharmonic, Fort Worth Symphony, St. Louis Symphony, Grand Rapids Symphony and Utah Symphony, among others. This Michael Jackson tribute show is very dear to Delisco, who grew up listening to Michael Jackson and even met him at a performance in Jacksonville, Florida, where Delisco was raised.
Brent Havens, conductor & arranger
The Music of Michael Jackson and The Music of the Doors were both arranged for orchestra and rock band by Brent Havens, who has also produced individual symphonic rock shows of the music of Led Zeppelin, The Eagles, Pink Floyd, Queen and The Who. Set off with retina-burning rock concert lighting, Haven’s concept for all of these shows has been to remain as true to the original recordings as possible while making the orchestra sound like another instrument within the band. In addition to three previous engagements with The Florida Orchestra, Havens has performed symphonic rock shows with Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra, Houston Symphony, Atlanta Symphony Orchestra and Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra, among others.
Winner will receive two tickets to the Music of Michael Jackson concert, Friday January 18th at 8:00pm.
